Well since I made my first deposit on Full Tilt Poker, I have been entered into a $5,000 Oceania Freeroll which is on this Sunday. Basically any player from the Oceania reigon who makes their first Full Tilt deposit in whatever month is eligible for that months 5k freeroll. The first prize is $1,250 US, which equates into about 1.8k Aussie. Pretty cool eh? Anyway I’ll let you know how I go in that after I finish.

I am also going to be entering the miniFTOPS (Full Tilt Online Poker Series) $50 + $5 Main Event which has a guaranteed prize pool of $500,000 US. This event is quite a while away but I am pretty excited for it. Hopefully I can cash big time in this one!

And lastly, I’ll be entering one of the Burswood WSOP Satellites later in the month, or maybe even sometime next month, I’m not sure yet. But I’ll keep you posted.

Basically you don’t have to play anyone as they all just go all-in pre-flop. Anyway, there was 9 players and guess what I came. That’s right. First. Woo. I won $15.75 US. When I was heads up againts one guy, he had basiclally triple of my stack which was about 600.

A few hands went by and I was just 10 chips ahead of him. In the small blind he calls the 100 big blind and I check with J9. Flop comes 6 K 9 rainbow. I check to him and he moves all in. I don’t know why but i called him. He showes K5 and I think to myself “Oh well”. The turn comes an 8 which helped no one, then the river came another 9! Woo hoo!

Anyway thats about it. Now my bankroll is up to $30.00, which is just $5 lower then what I put on to my account a few days ago. Yay!

Oh yeah, the reason I was down so much money was because I decided to have a go at the $0.05/$0.10 cash game. I sat down with $10 I was playing heads up with some guy. A couple of hands in I get dealt pocket Jacks. So I raise and he calls. The flop comes J 4 4 with two diamonds. Full house for me baby! He checks to me and I decide to slowplay and check my full house. Turn comes a Queen of diamonds. He bets and I call him. The river is the 10 of diamonds and he bets half of his stack. I re-raise him all in and he quickly calls and show pocket 4′s! How sick is that? I mean sick in a bad way as well. I flop a full house and he flops four of a kind! Jeez!

After that I don’t think I will play anymore cash games. Plus I think it’s a more worthwile investement to play these super turbos!

Well it was basically the last hand before the break. I was big blind and dealt a crappy Q2 offsuit. Anyway, one guy calls and everyone else folds. I check and the flop comes 2 Q 7 rainbow. I bet out $800 and he raises me to $3,500. Now this guy basically was playing every pair he made with whatever kicker so I re-raised him to $8,000 and he calls. Turn comes an A and I move all in. He calls and shows QJ. He has a pair of Queens and I have two pair, Queens and Twos. I think I’m about to double up and then another Ace comes on the river, giving us both two pair now, Queens and Aces, but his Jack kicker beats me! So frustrating!

Anyway now that I’m out, I’m bored and have nothing to do. Great.

They are going to be holding satellites for people to gain entry into the final which will be held on Sunday, 24th May.

Now there is some good news and bad news and more good news (for me anyway). The good news is that I will be entering one of these satellites to try and win a seat in the final. The bad news is if that I somehow win a seat, and win the final, that the legal age for people to gamble in Las Vegas is 21. So I won’t be able to play in the WSOP. But the more good news is that if the winners are under the age of 21, they will be awarded an alternate prize of equal value. Cash money anyone?

I first started off playing the play money tables at the lowest stakes of 5/10 no-limit games. I worked up the $1000 play money bankroll to about $64,000, which I quickly lost.

I then discovered freeroll tournaments, for those who don’t know, these are tournament where you can play for free, and there is an actual prize. I regularly play in the $100 Australian Freeroll Tournaments which run on Full Tilt every day. I have cashed three times in these freeroll tournaments.

My first cash was when I came 22nd out of 1404 entrants and won $2USD. The second cash was also a $2 win when I came 16th out of 1746 players. The final cash was also my biggest, I won $9 (ooh wow!), when I came 3rd out of 1384 players.

For those wondering, I lost all of that playing the $0.01/$0.02 games and a few dollars entering some online tournaments. Haha. Yeah. Funny.

The day before, we discover that the trains weren’t going to be running so we needed to catch a bus to Burswood but luckily Mike and Rhysia took us down. We got to Burswood about an hour and a half before the tourney started, so we went walkabout around the hotel. We watched some helicopter take off then stumbled across some weird-ass anti-depression session with old people doing fake laughing and some weird shit.

After that we went into the casino and wasted some time in the Carbon bar and had a shot at some $1 video poker, which was a failure.

A few minutes before the tournament was about to start we signed in and took our randomly assigned seats. There was 96 players in total, 1st to 9th place got entry into the $1,100 Sapphire Series Main Event and 10th place got $650. Each player started with $3,000 in tourney chips, they were worth nothing, so don’t say i could of cashed them in, lol.

Unfortunately, the Asian guy with the lucky elephant charm sitting to the left of me was a very aggressive player who raised and re-raised every pot, which made me have to tighten up, even though I’m a tight player already. My stack dwindled down to about $1,000. I eventually won a pot with Ace Jack high, on a board of some random crap, and some lady called my large raise on the river with a K4, when there was no King or 4 on the board – weird.

The first break came around so I stood up and scanned the tables for Trent. He was nowhere to be seen. Then I see him sitting on the sidelines with his head down and he told me that he was eliminated by some lady. He came 65th or something.

After the break, I was moved to the next table where I doubled my chip count through this poor guy (I’ll explain later) when he raised all-in pre flop with A7 and I called with AK. We both spiked Aces but my kicker was better. A few hands later, he rebuilt his stack and I went all in with a pocket pair or 7′s and he called me with A-6 or something and I doubled up through him again.

Soon enough at this new table, I worked my way up from $900 when i sat down, to around $10,000, which was about $1,000 higher than the chip average. After another break, the Burswood people swapped my giant stack of $100 chips for one measly $5,000 chip. I lost over half of my stack to some guy when I had another 77 and the board showed a possible straight and overpairs.

I was down to about $2,500 and with the blinds at $500/$1000, I knew I had to move all-in soon. So under the gun (first to act in the pot), I moved all in with A9 and was called by the same guy who took all my other chips. He showed QQ and I was drawing to two remaining Aces in the deck. I received no help and was eliminated in 29th place.

Okay, I won nothing, and I’m down $125, but it was a lot of fun and good experience. I also think 29th out of 96 in my first game at a casino in a major tourney was pretty good.
